Scholarship Information

FAFSA is the form you will to fill out when the time comes to apply for financial aid. You will also need a FSA ID number when you file. The student and 1 parent will need a FSA ID number before you may submit your FAFSA. You may apply for the FSA ID number several weeks or months before submitting your FAFSA. Horatio Alger Scholarship

-Awarded to current high school Juniors

-Must demonstrate Financial Need

-Demonstrating adversity and financial need are selection criteria

-Must keep a minimum GPA of 2.0

-Deadline: March 15, 2024

James M. Cox Foundation Scholarship

-Must demonstrate financial need

-Must demonstrate likelihood of academic success in chosen field of study

-Must attend a Nebraska-based institution of higher learning

-Deadline: All items must be postmarked on or before April 15, 2024

-Must plan on majoring in an ag related field at any accredited university, college, or technical college

The American Legion Scholarship Program

-Listed below you will find a number of scholarships available through the American Legion. Within the information on each scholarship you will find an application link. You may access this list of scholarships at: www.nebraskalegion.net/Programs/Scholarships.html

Local Scholarship 

-This application makes a senior eligible for a number of scholarships given from local donors. It is strongly recommended that any senior who is pursuing any type of post-high school education take the time to fill out and submit this application.

Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation Scholarship

-Must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA in high school 

-Must be a first time freshman entering college (Students obtaining dual credit enrollment ARE eligible to apply)

-Must plan to attend a Nebraska public college (This may be Nebraska Community Colleges, Nebraska State Colleges, or the University of Nebraska System Colleges)

-Must meet the financial aid requirements

-Deadline: February 1, 2024 at 5:00 (FAFSA submission summary must be submitted by March 15, 2024 by 5:00.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Scholarship

-Scholarship application was given in English class on January 26, 2024. If you need the application because you were absent from class that day or you simply need another application see Mr. Kneifl

-Deadline: March 31, 2024

Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. Scholarship

-Must have minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

-Must have an ACT composite score of 24

-Must pursue a career in the medical field

-Deadline is March 15, 2024

-Northeast Nebraska Cattlemen Scholarship

-Scholarship awarded to one student in each of the following counties, Dakota, Dixon, Thurston, and Wayne

-Must be attending a two or four-year college majoring in any vocational, agricultural field

-Must hold a 2.8 or high GPA for the 1st semester of college

Steve F. Wemhoff Memorial Scholarship

-Scholarship based on academic ability, leadership, activities, financial need, personal and career goals

-Must have at least a "B" average
