My name is Yannis, and I am an Assistant Professor of Financial Accounting in the Department of Business Administration and Tourism at the Hellenic Mediterranean University. I hold a Ph.D. in Financial Accounting and Auditing from the same department, where I teach accounting courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I also teach at the Department of Accounting and Finance of Neapolis University of Paphos in the postgraduate program in Forensic Accounting. I am also a Certified Internal Control Auditor (CICA), a Certified Control Specialist (CCS) by the Institute for Internal Controls (IIC), a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Certified Internal Auditor by the State of Greece, and certified by ACCA in Accounting, Finance, and Sustainability areas. 

 I have participated in international conferences and published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, as well as in books and volumes of foreign-language publications. I have also authored six academic books in my mother tongue: five in my discipline (Accounting and Management Accounting) and one in Research Methodology.

 My primary research interests include Financial Accounting, Auditing, ESG/CSR, Financial Integrity, and Corporate Governance.

 I am a member of the Hellenic Association of Economists and Accountants, the research laboratories OramaLab and LAFIM, the Institute of Public Accountants ACPAI, the Hellenic Economic Chamber of Greece, IIA, and a founding member of ELINESEE and Minoan Energy Community.

 Alexandros Garefalakis is a Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA), Certified Public Accountant (Fellow of CPA), Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Controls Specialist (CCS), and Business Consultant in numerous companies, organizations, and European programs since 2006. Additionally, he is an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Business Administration and Tourism at Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) in Greece. He holds a degree in Financial Applications, a Master degree in Accounting and Finance from University of Southampton and PhD in Accounting from Hellenic Open University. 

He has co-authored 11 books on Audit Accounting and Management Accounting issues. He has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and participation in more than 40 national and international conferences. As well, he has been awarded first prize in innovation competition "Young Businessman" for the Intelligent Qualitative Analysis Database (AIQAD) and the Ma.Co.I index he has developed at 2003.

He has eighteeeighteen (18) years of academic teaching experience (in undergraduate and postgraduate programs) and his areas of research interest include the Disclosure Narrative information, ESG, I.F.R.S, Management Commentary Index (Ma.Co.I), Auditing, Quality of Financial Statements, Weighting models in Accounting, Accounting and Operation Research, Multiple Criteria Decision‐Making in Management Accounting.
