Entries are a shorter and more focused form of scholarly writing, with the following characteristics:
Minimum and maximum word count:
The minimum length for each entry is 1,000 words, while the maximum length is 2,000 words. The limit of 2,000 words applies only to entries covering an extensive subject or to entries authored by two contributors. Indicatively, there should be a correspondence between the number of authors and the length of the text, e.g., 1 author – 1,000 words, and for 2 authors – 2,000 words.
Number of references: 5–10 references
Key Important Points
---
An entry is not intended to follow the structure of a conventional research paper. It does not necessarily require an introduction or concluding section, nor does it include a literature review. Instead, each entry is designed to clearly and concisely explain a specific concept, event, historical development, regulation, or any topic falling within the scope of the encyclopedia, in line with the standards of scholarly reference works. See an example here
The emphasis is placed on providing well-structured, accurate, and accessible information rather than on argumentative analysis. Authors may include tables, figures, or images where appropriate, provided that these are original or that the necessary permissions for reproduction have been properly secured.
Importantly, each accepted entry will be published as an independent scholarly contribution and will be indexed in Scopus, offering academic visibility and recognition to its authors.
No fees (APCs) required
No author may appear on more than 3 entries. No entry may have more than 2 authors.
All Authors may ask to review 1-3 entries. 🙂
Footnotes should not be used in the entries. A list of references should instead be collected and placed as a bibliography at the end of the entry. You should include no more than one figure or table in your entry.
All figures and tables should be supplied with alt-text, guidance on this can be found here.
Please refer to the Elgar Author Hub if you plan to include maths in any entries.
Please do not use reference management software in your Word document (e.g. Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley or other referencing system).
We would be very pleased to receive your response through the Entries per section tab.
