HTHS is planning an on-campus medic training class with the Hamilton Township Fire Department and Ohio Health. The course fees including lab and equipment are funded by the Ohio Expanding Opportunities for Each Child Grant for 2019-20 and 2020-21. There are spots for five juniors in the first cohort. Those students will continue with the course their senior year at HTHS and be joined by an additional group of five juniors. Admission to the course is competitive. Apply for admission with your guidance counselor.
The course is designed to get students into the EMT pathway and begin their preparation for EMT credential tests. The Hamilton Township Fire Department is anticipating a need for EMT in the near future. Other area fire departments also report openings in this rewarding and high-paying in-demand field.
