Grades K-5: Teachers occasionally use instructional materials that enthuse students about careers. Instruction about careers. Instruction about careers is purposeful, documented, coordinated within and between buildings, and presented without bias or exclusion. Instruction and discussion is age appropriate and aims to be anxiety-free. Teachers work with principals to schedule career speakers. In the fifth grade, students complete a career exploration project that uses their interests and what they know about their skills to help them explore a career. Through research, reading, writing , and presentation students will learn various aspects about a career.

Grade 6: Students get their first exposure to OhioMeansJobs (OMJ). After creating an OMJ K12 account, each student explores the OMJ Backpack. Students participate in Career Cafes. Consider going to Eastland-Fairfield 3-day Summer Camp held in early June for grades 6-8.

Grade 7: All students take the Career Cluster Inventory and begin exploring careers that support the top results of their Inventory. Students participate in Career Cafes. Students begin learning about Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools (EFCTS). Consider going to EFCTS 3-day Summer Camp.

Students visit Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools. Consider going to Eastland-Fairfield 3-day Summer Camp.

They continue to explore a variety of careers and need to consider many careers that align to their interests and skills. The focus is on identifying specific career fields that they can pursue while in high school. Students draft and update a resume in their Ohio Means Jobs (OMJ) Backpack. The OMJ Backpack is updated as necessary during ADVISORY. College Credit Plus classes are scheduled to support career plans. Excel on your End-of-Course exams. Meet with a guidance counselor.

Consider applying to the Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools. Visit Eastland-Fairfield. Take more CCP classes. Update resume. Meet with a guidance counselor.
