Admission Regulations for the HKS Bilingual International Experimental Class (Grade 10)
I. Admission qualification: Grade 10 students of 2021 academic year.
II. Regulations: After the Information Session, new students can apply for the bilingual international experimental class according to their intention.
1. The minimum threshold: The score on Chinese B of Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School(CAP), and the score on English B of CAP. The selection criteria consist of the scores below:
A. A score transferred from the Chinese score of CAP.
The score equivalent to the Chinese level of CAP.
B. A score transferred from the English score of CAP.
The score equivalent to the English level of CAP.
C. The Chinese assessment for the experimental class.
D. The English assessment for the experimental class.
2. The scores of the Chinese and English of CAP will be transferred into A++(98 points), A+(92points), A(86points), B++(80points), B+(74points), and B(68points). The highest points transferred from the Chinese and English CAP are 100.
The levels of the Chinese and English of CAP will have corresponding scores.
A++ is equivalent to 98 points, A+(92points), A(86points), B++(80points), B+(74points), and B(68points).
The full credits of the Chinese assessment for the experimental class is 100.
The full credits of the English assessment for the experimental class is 100.
3. For example, if a student gets Chinese(A), English(B++), the Chinese assessment (88), and the English assessment (74), the total is 86+80+88+85=339. The top 45 students will be admitted based on the scores.
4. Excess Competition Policy: When the number of the applicants does not exceed 45, the students who pass the minimum threshold “Chinese B of CAP and English B of CAP” will be admitted in full. While the number of the applicants exceeds 45, the selection criteria will be based on the scores equivalent to the Chinese and English of CAP and the Chinese and English assessments for the experimental class. As shown in above. If any two of the students get the same scores, then they will be competed according to the following criteria.
A. The score equivalent to the English level of CAP.
B. The score equivalent to the Chinese level of CAP.
C. The English assessment for the experimental class.
D. The Chinese assessment for the experimental class.
45 students will be admitted based on the scores.
III. Transference
At the end of each semester, the experimental class can be transferred to and out according to students’ wishes and discussed by the “Experimental Education Committee.” The criteria are:
1. Transfer-Out:
A. Application for transfer-out: Students should consider their interests, aptitude, learning effectiveness, expected goals and other factors, and actively apply for transfer-out at the end of each semester.
B. Counseling transfer-out: If the student has poor moral character and maladjustment to life which are likely to affect the progress of the courses, the tutor or the subject teachers may report this situation. Depending on the student’s wishes, he or she should be referred to the counseling transfer-out after the approval of the experimental education committee. In order to maintain the stability of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning, the school no longer conduct tutoring and transfers from the second year of high school.
2. Transfer-into:
A. If there are any vacancies, students may apply for the experimental class depending on their wishes at the end of the semester.
B. Selection criteria for transfer-into: The scores in the field of Chinese and English in the previous semester are used as the basis for selection. The field of Chinese accounts for 50% and the field of English accounts for 50%, and the best applicant is selected. If any of the two get the same scores, they will be compared as the following criteria. (1) the scores in the English field, (2) the scores in the Chinese field.
IV. Period: The experimental curriculum of 2021 academic year bilingual international experimental class starts from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2023. (that is, the beginning of the first year of high school students in the 2021 academic year, and the end of their third year, a total of 3 years.)
