HKS’ core concept is “recognize every student’s value and contribution” and the school’s vision consists of “local concerns,” “creativity and vitality,” and “global perspectives,” which leads to 5 key elements of HKS’ students graduate attributes: well-cultivated character, critical thinking ability, creativity, interdisciplinary learning ability, mobility, and international perspectives.
The missions of HKS’ international division:
1. English Proficiency: This mission aims to enhance students’ English competencies (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, writing, and composition) and students can develop appropriate expression and problem-solving ability.
2. Self-directed Learning: This mission exposes students to a variety of English materials (i.e., novels, newspapers and magazines, radios, TV programs, songs, Internet resources, and online courses) so as to build English learning projects and cultivate a habit of self-directed learning.
3. International Participation: This mission enables students to keep a positive attitude towards English, explore new knowledge and actively show concern about global issues and voluntarily participate in international events.
4. Intercultural Communication: Through school courses, international exchange events, and school internationalization, this mission develops students’ international competencies to respect and appreciate different cultures as well as to possess the ability of cross-cultural communication,
5. Global Responsibility: This mission guides students to learn the concepts of sustainability and humanity, which in turn cultivates students’ global responsibility. In the process, students can gain a better cultural recognition and identity.
