HOW AI SUPPORTS HJISD'S CORE BELIEFS
We expect all students and staff to use AI with honesty and sincerity. AI should support learning — not replace original thinking. Misuse of AI, including using it in ways that do not align with expectations, is a violation of academic integrity.
We are committed to educational excellence. AI can enhance learning by supporting understanding, creativity, and problem-solving. However, high-quality work must always reflect student thinking, effort, and understanding.
We are dedicated to our students, families, and community. This includes protecting student privacy and ensuring AI tools are used safely and responsibly. All AI use must follow district guidelines and applicable laws, including FERPA.
We embrace innovation with a mindset that promotes growth and possibility. AI provides new opportunities for learning, and we encourage students and staff to approach it with curiosity, responsibility, and critical thinking.
We work together to ensure consistent expectations across classrooms and campuses. Clear communication about when and how AI can be used helps students, teachers, and families stay aligned and supports a shared understanding of responsbile use.
As AI continues to evolve, HJ will continue to adapt thoughtfully. We will provide guidance, training, and clear expectations to ensure AI is used in ways that support learning, uphold our values, and prepare students for future success.
