Aims
To help you derive enjoyment and benefit from learning a language.
To enable you to communicate in both the spoken and written language with Spanish speakers.
To enable you to deal with everyday situations in any Spanish-speaking country.
To offer insights into the culture and civilization of Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries and to encourage positive attitudes to foreign languages.
Course Content
The four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing will be taught throughout the course. The topic areas covered at Key Stage 4 are 1) Identity and culture, 2) Local, national, international and global areas of interest 3) Current and future study and employment. At the end of the course you will be able to listen for and identify detail in spoken texts of increasing complexity, read and note detail from written texts of increasing length, speak at some length on and write accurately about a range of topics.
Assessment Structure
The four skills tested – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing - are worth 25% each.
You need to
Ensure that you conscientiously do the homework that will be set every week.
Be prepared to take an active part in the lessons.
Enjoy the challenge of learning Spanish.
Please note that you cannot select this subject if you did not study it in Years 8 and 9.
