Consider the following:
Which are your favourite subjects?
In which subjects do you achieve highly?
If you have an idea of your future career, do you need to have studied particular subjects? Check the level of any exam pass grades needed.
You will have to be realistic about your abilities. Ask yourself the question - “Am I going to be able to get the grades?” If the answer is “No!” or “I am not sure!” or you are someone who just does not have any fixed careers ideas yet, do not worry! Advice and guidance will be offered.
DO ….
Ask for advice from the people who know you.
Talk your choice over with your parents, tutor and subject teachers.
Make an informed choice.
DON’T ….
Take a subject just because you like the teacher - it is the subject that is important.
Choose a subject just because your best friend has chosen it - your best friend may be good at it, you may not.
Be put off taking a subject because one of your friends doesn’t like it.
Remember: The choice you make is important because it will affect your future and your happiness in school. Make the right choice for you (listen, ask and take advice).
