Prerequisites: Pre-Engineering 1 and 2 Grade Level: , 10, 11, 12

Description:

Engineering Design will push students to apply all of their knowledge from Pre-Engineering 1 and 2 in order to create complex machines and drawings. Students will continue to build drafting skills using AutoCAD and Inventor and will transfer there designs into real world content. Throughout the semester students will be using the classroom equipment to develop prototypes in order to put there skills to the test.

Objectives:

Throughout the semester students will use industry standard software and tools in order to

  1. Open, edit, and save drawing files.
  2. Choose and use the correct CAD commands in order to create, edit, manipulate, and plot line geometry.
  3. Identify equipment used in drafting.
  4. Identify and employ the absolute, relative, and polar point entry system.
  5. Create and revise proper industry standard dimensions.
  6. Understand, maniulate and create 3D drawings and conceptual objects.
  7. Create different views for various 3D objects.
  8. Build spacial reasoning skills.
  9. Create isometric, oblique, and perspective drawings.
  10. Print drawings in the proper scale.
  11. Use equipment to create physical models.

Classroom Expectations:

My expectations will remain high for all of my students. I expect students to respect the classroom and most importantly each other. Every classroom should remain a safe space for all students to thrive and learn in.

  • For full credit, assignments must be turned in by the assigned due date.

  • Late work up to a 1 week will be accepted with a 10% penalty. Beyond that any late work will be accepted and graded up to 50%

  • Students may receive extended due dates if an excused absence occurs.

  • Academic dishonesty will NOT be tolerated. Any instance of cheating including, inappropriate aid, turning in someone else’s work, or copying directly from another student is unnacceptable. Any instance of this will result in a 0% as well as discipline through the dean’s office.

  • All students are encouraged to save assignments to the network drive as well as in a backup location. This may also be cloud based. (Google Drive!!)

  • Cell Phone Policy. Students are expected to have cell phones put away during lecture or group work. However, students are encouraged to use any resource possible during lab hours. Students may use cell phones up to the teacher’s discretion.

  • Food and drinks. Any food or drink should not be in the lab. We use very expensive and delicate equipment. Anything brought into the lab should be left at the student’s desk in the center of the room far away from any machine.

  • Students should be active, respectful, and engaged!

Grading Scale :

(Grades will be figured by the average of all tests, quizzes, projects, and participation)

90% - 100% = A

80% - 89.9% = B

70% - 79.9% = C

60% - 69.9% = D

0% - 59.9% = F
