XLR8 is a Tier 3 program designed for students who are significantly credit deficient. The typical candidate for the program has experienced some truancy concerns and a lack of engagement in school. This program is for students who are credit deficient in such a way that completing courses in the traditional classroom would require more than 4 years in high school. Candidates are chosen for XLR8 by Guidance Counselors and the GESST Team, as there are only 8-10 slots per period. Upon recommendation, the potential candidate and his/her parents have a meeting to provide a program description and agree to an initial trial period in Credit Recovery. Parents and students sign a form in agreement with the terms.
The XLR8 room is also utilized for students taking On-Line coursework to meet individual needs based on transition plans or other unique needs. Guidance Counselors will seek approval from the Student Support Coordinator in order to enroll students in this type of programming.
Hours of the program are: 8am-3pm
Students are assigned appropriately by the SSC and GC to meet the needs of each individual student and their course requests.
