Addressing the needs of each pupil
Pupils will have different career guidance needs at different stages. Opportunities for advice and support needed are tailored to the needs of each pupil. Outwood Academy Hindley school’s careers programme embeds equality and diversity considerations throughout.
Careers questionnaire
Pupils will complete a careers survey every year at the school. The questionnaire will be diverse and take into consideration the needs of all the pupils. The results feed directly into the school's careers programme to ensure the need of every pupil is considered and taken into account.
Outwood Academy Hindley's career questionnaire: KS3, Year 10 and Year 11
Career qestionnaire results
The information gathered from the questionnaire will generate a career report and an action plan which will identify areas of development and needs, an example shown below.
Xello
Xello is our career resource, enabling parents/carers to access information directly at home with pupils online.
Xello will be used to communicate with pupils regarding careers. This could include applying for college or an apprenticeship. It also includes career activities.
For key stage 3 pupils, Xello will be used to track their career interests. This will enable us to target particular industries or invite interested pupils to listen to talks and participate in work-related activities.
Using Xello pupils will be able to:
Personalise your career profile
Use the 'career matcher tool' to help you find your perfect career
Create your own 'Careers storyboard'
Upload your achievements, hobbies, skills and qualities
Explore college, university and apprenticeship options
Find out how much you can earn
