ERWC

Course Description: Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) prepares seniors for the literacy demands of higher education. Through a sequence of rigorous instructional modules, students in this year-long and rhetoric-based course will develop advanced proficiency in expository, analytical, and argumentative reading and writing. Students will be expected to increase their awareness of the rhetorical strategies used by authors and to apply those strategies to their very own writing. They will read closely to examine the connection between an author’s argument or theme and his or her audience and purpose; to analyze the impact of structural and rhetorical strategies; and to examine the social, political, and philosophical assumptions that underlie the text.

Course Goals and Objectives:

By the end of the year, students will be able to:

  • write analytical essays using organizational skills.

  • use appropriate, effective and specific vocabulary.

  • communicate, understand, evaluate, and speak effectively both in verbal and written language.

Google Classroom: Google Classroom will be our main website. Please make sure to stay updated and check Google Classroom daily for any new assignments. The Google Meet link will be at the very top of the Google Classroom page for you to join the virtual lesson.
