CAIMS Triathlon
This is an extra curricular activity and students will need to pay for transport to and from the event for themselves and their bike. The cost to participate in this event is $20.

Where:
The event is held on private property so no site inspection or swimming in the lake is allowed. The race site is on South Eyre Rd (near West Eyreton) ~27km from the start of South Eyre turning off Tram Rd at Clarkville. You will see a sign for the “OxMan” event outside the property.

Individuals only - entrants must complete all 3 disciplines (ie there are no teams’ events).
Swim: 150 metres for Year 7 and Year 8 students. It is a freshwater lake. The swim will be started in waves of approximately 30 children. They will be in alphabetical order of schools, then surname within each school.
Cycle: The big leg starts on South Eyre Road before turning right into Harewood Road. There will be a turn point for year 7/8. The road very slightly climbs to the turn point. Year 7/8 10km https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33737685
Run: The run leg will be a 2 lap course on South Eyre Road from transition onto South Eyre Rd towards Poyntzs Rd. Year 7/8 complete 3 laps for 2.5km
Race rules:
1. Swimming aids are not permitted except goggles and swim caps.
2. Cycle helmets approved to Snell, ANSI or NZ Standards must be worn and done up at all times when competitors are in charge of their bike.
3. No drafting is allowed during the bike. This means there needs to be a gap of 3 bike lengths (7m) between riders.
4. No aero bars should be used.
5. Competitors may wear no less than normal swimwear and the upper torso must be covered while on the bike and while running.
6. Assistance other than from race officials and medical personnel will result in a disqualification.
7. Race officials and medical personnel have the right to remove competitors from the race.
8. All road rules and marshal’s instructions must be observed. The course will be marked and marshalled. A bike will follow the last runner.
9. No drinks are to be given during the race.
10. No bikes are to be removed from the transition area until the last race is completed. This could result in disqualification.
11. No video cameras or cameras are allowed in the transition area.
12. Competitors enter at their own risk.
13. The Race Director’s decision is final.
14. ALL COMPETITORS MUST REPORT IN WHEN MARSHALLED AND ATTEND THE RACE BRIEFING.
