Advice for 10th-Graders

PSAT/SAT - Start test prepping for the PSAT to score well on the SAT in junior year. Math and English teachers can provide you with PSAT prep materials. More Information

Attendance - It is critical (very important) to attend class. Don’t fall behind. You need 11 credits every semester. How can you pass if you don't come to class?!

Extra-Curricular Activities- Get Involved! Clubs, sports, College Bound organizations etc. Make connections, meet upper-classmen throughout the building, and make healthy friendships with others who share similar interests.

Regents- These exams are very important for graduation and college admission. You need 5 passed regents to graduate. But, to prevent wasting your time and money on remedial classes in college, make sure you are college ready.

75 ELA & 80 Math Regents = College Ready

AP Courses- take an AP class as a sophomore! These courses contain college level curriculum and your AP exam score could gain you FREE college credits.

College Now- consider taking College Now courses next year. You could leave Hillcrest with FREE college credits. These isn't any standardized exam for most of these classes and you can get a college ID with many benefits.
