Thanks for Joining Us!

HTM hosted the first family movie night this week!

Thank you to all who were able to enjoy the movie Coco, while sipping on some cocoa. And a special thanks to the volunteers from the HTM Parent Association who helped out! We are looking forward to more opportunities to come together!

HTM LCAP and Title 1 Fund Review

Mike will host the annual LCAP review meeting and provide families the opportunity to share their feedback.

The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for local educational agencies (LEAs), like HTM, to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs. We will look over the goals and action items for the year ahead as well as review how HTM is budgeting resources in support of these goals.

I would love to have you join and share your thoughts.

Make-Up Picture Day - Monday

Picture day is this upcoming Monday, November 01. Students will be able to remove their mask for the picture.

High Tech High Skateboard Policy

Liberty Station has had a strict rule against skateboards and scooters on their grounds, but it has recently become extra important that we remind students about it, as there have been a rise in accidents and concerns about usage. We have started asking students to not bring skateboards to campus, so we can avoid any concerns around misuse. However, we understand that some families rely on their children having access to skateboards as a mode of transportation to and from school. In these limited cases, we will allow students to store their scooters or skateboards in an office for the school day. If your child does not require their scooter or skateboard for transportation, please leave it at home.

NEW X-BLOCK SESSIONS

Our new x-block sessions will be starting on Monday - we will share which offerings your child received with them during their Advisory meeting on Monday morning.

HTM ELAC Meeting: Thurs 11/04@6p

What is an ELAC?

California public schools with 21 or more English learners form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).

The responsibilities of the committee are to:

  • Advise the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for supporting English learners.

  • Assist in the development of school wide needs assessment.

  • Help find ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

All are welcome to join! Next meeting, Thursday Nov 04, at 6p Zoom - https://hightechhigh-org.zoom.us/j/83639248606 (meeting ID: 83639248606)

Updates From The Zone Before and After Care

We are sad to share that our Before and After School Director has taken a position at another school running their before and after care programming. But we are also very pleased to introduce you to our interim Before and After School Director, Perla Ramirez. Please feel free to contact her with any questions you might have at peramirez@hightechhigh.org.

We are still struggling to find staffing for our aftercare program. We are competing with all of the High Tech High schools as well as all of the other schools in San Diego who are short staffed and at HTM we have a higher requirement for employment (which is mandated by the ASES grant, which enables us to offer the program to be free to all families; all of our before and aftercare employees are required to have at least 60 units of college credit). One piece of good news that may help us to be more competitive in hiring is that our CFO has approved for us to offer pay in the $17/hour range.

If you know of anyone who is interested in joining our team, please feel free to share the hiring post - https://jobs.lever.co/hightechhigh/879a7949-14c0-42dd-b7d2-bd32fe32500f.
