A7D Creative Group: A small woman found marketing team that does anything from prints to stickers.
My first week was fun. I loved sleeping in a little later, office culture, and being able to leave without thinking about work. The last being the starkest difference from my internship last year. I feel like being in a stricter environment has made me more discipline in how I get work done with mini rewards throughout the day. Izzys and chocolates have been especially rewarding.
My job with my short time with A7D creative group is to come up with a marketing strategy plan for the North Park Farmer's Market and present to the people who run it. My week entailed building my marketing outline, visiting the market, and observing what marketing is in place already as well as how it does on a normal day. I mainly worked from digital worksheets, youtube videos, and stalking Instagrams and Facebooks. It was unorthadox when I think of traditional firms and businesses but that is why i had fun. The spirit of the office is also very young and kind, women surround me who I aspire to be.
:)
Week two I focused on my skillset as a intern. The biggest part was learning to create a content calendar and to analyze competitors. I first drafted calendars based off how I thought I would need it to look then basing it off of an actually content calendar. It felt like I was flexing more and more muscle the time it took to figure out all the secrets of sheets. Throughout the week I also spent time analyzing competitors and taking notes on their strengths and weaknesses digitally and in real life.
I have made so much progress on my mini project here with A7D. I spent this week brainstorming and finalizing my ideas for my campaign propsoal. I decided on targeting kids and families who are off on summer break looking for things to do in San Diego. It would be a series of events one per month from. June-August that allows kids to be creative, learn, and enjoy the market next to them with friends their age and family around. My next task is finalizing a name for the campaign and making my deck.
:)
This week has been very short. I've feel so apart of the office culture as I've been feeling since I've got here. This week I read excerpts from Ellen Lupton's book "Thinking with Type" and learned a lot about how to use fonts and explore different strategies when designing. This week I also worked on finalizing my campaign plans. Finalizing the title "Kid's Summer Kraze".
I finished brainstorming with the help of my mentors deciding this title was the most fitting, fun, and rolls of the tongue nice. I made a pinterest board to help me visualize the vision I was seeing in my head and to help show my mentors. I was shown campaign proposal decks to help understand what I would need in my proposal next Thursday. It was super insightful and I learned more about how budgeting tiers work and how to sell my ideas. I'm super excited to be in the creative phase of the project and seeing my ideas pull together.

It's the final countdown. My week has been so fun and exciting, yet very tight on my deadline. This week I was finishing up my pitch slides yet had a wonky day on Tuesday as it was remote due to Senior Exit Interviews. I still got my work done an amazing feedback on my slides. Right before my pitch I spent the morning at a kid event in Del Mar that we were covering for marketing. Brought me back to my Public Market days manning a cashier except I was manning a raffle.
My pitch went amazing. I was definetly nervous all week because it was a different set up than I am use to in school. I had a lot of kinks to fix but overall had raving feedback on how well it went. To pull this off in just under a month I am proud of myself and everything I was able to complete. I feel immense pride in the work I did and lessons I learned with A7D Creative Group.
