We realized our classroom needs to look and feel like home. For this, we decided to create unique mandalas that are made with elements of nature. First part of the activity, we went on a nature walk to gather elements of nature. We saw lots of elements that do not belong to nature: such as trash. Also, we were mindful of looking for patters and colors that could bring us calm and comfort (just like home). Second part of the activity, we had tempera paint and kids had 2 options: either use or not tempera paint to make nature arts stamps. Finally, the purpose of the activity was to contribute with a piece of art to transform/make our classroom a place that looks and feels like home. It is said that mandalas bring calm and peace through their colors and patterns. Hope students could take a look at their mandalas on the wall anytime they want to feel like home.
