2022-2023, Chula Vista Learning Community Charter
I'm excited to be working with CVLCC as the 12th grade Government, Politics, & Civics teacher in both the "College Prep" and "AP" strands. Something I'm carrying with me from my time in the HTHGSE is adopting a project-based approach to my curriculum.
At the moment, I have only just started my research into how it will be possible to bridge PBL and traditional AP methodology. I'm excited to collaborate with other educators to create a course that addresses the needs of preparing for an AP exam while also designing a program that has depth, intention, and a critical lens in regard to the topics being discussed.
Below is a 5 project cycle that I found from Knowledge in Action, a course developed under the direction of Drs. Walter Parker, Susan Nolen, and John Bransford at the University of Washington.
The course, units, and projects are outlined further at https://sprocket.lucasedresearch.org/home/curriculum/apgov
