Week One
First week of co-op has been really fun and I have enjoyed being back at my internship from last year. So far, I've been doing a little bit of what I did previously with checking in and out equipment and taking some pictures of the classes that they teach. I have also been starting to work on a project where I'm gathering photos that will be printed out and framed to be put up in a hallway to make a collage. Another thing that I have worked on during this first week was a promotional video for the company's socials. I was helping model in some parts and also helping with editing the video and getting the audio correct as well. This was a pretty fun little project to work on, and it gave me some more experience working on social media content. I also helped out with shooting an interview for one of the students which was pretty cool because I got to have some of my own cinematography skills shown in their film. After that I took headshots of all the students and the mentors that teach the classes including mine. And to finish off this week of my co-op internship at MACSD I got to help with a red carpet film premiere. During the premiere I helped with setting up the red carpet for the event where I was taking pictures of the different filmmakers while they were being interviewed. Once the red carpet was done we went inside and I took pictures of inside the venue that can be used to summarize the event on social media. Overall this week was really fun and I enjoy working with the MACSD company.
Week Two
This week was a bit easier then last week since they were finished teaching their spring film classes after the red carpet event. I started off the week by editing the portraits that I took last week of the students. This gave me a lot more experience using lightroom which I didn't realize was so good until now. It took some time but the results were worth it, but sadly, when I looked back at the edited veraions of the photos on thursday they were all gone. So I think this next week I'll probably focus on getting those edited again. But besides that I finished editing some promotional videos for the company instagram where I took little intruiging snippets of each film and turned them into reels that were kind of like little trailers. Aside from editing I helped out with moving equipment from the downtown location to the city heights location on monday, then moved the stuff we took over there back to downtown on friday. It was'nt the most fun thing to do, but we did find a drone that we are gonna buy batteries for to fly it so hopefully I get to test it out. The worst part of this week however was that the vending machine downtown charged me $10 for a small bag of Cheetos and a cup of noodles when it costed like $4, kind of crazy.
Week Three
The third week of co-op has been a lot more chill than the last two being that it was'nt even a full week long. I started off my week on Tuesday after Memorial Day and I got to work on organizing the stuff in Downtown that we brought from the City Heights location. Me and Zef got to labeling every bin that was in the storage room and then when we were done we got to work on a new project. For this project me and Zef were working on a new advertisement for the companies instagram. We split up the project into 2 parts, I made a poster advertisement and Zef started making a video that would describe the ad more in depth. On Wednsday I started to finish up the poster and getting the colors to pop and be more eye-catching to get people to respond to it. After I finished we got some pizza from our mentors after they had finished the meetings they were in. Then on Thursday we got to work on filming some b-roll for the video we are making while we were at school after I finished doing my senior exit interview. We couldn't finish the video but next week we should have it all edited and posted on the instagram, and it might be the last thing that we get to finish while we're at our co-op as it's gonna be our last week. That's all for the third week of co-op because Friday we got to go to GradNite!
Week 4 (Last Week)
The final week of co-op was very fun and relaxed, like it was last week. To start off the week, I began working on my last flyer for the company that requested volunteers to help out with their summer programs. I finished this on Wednesday, and that was my last sort of project that I did in my time there. During the other parts of the week, I helped out with getting every computer they had wiped clean so that the new students for their summer program. This week me and Zef's mentors even treated us to a going-away lunch with the rest of the staff, and we all got acquainted. They even gave us some going away thank you cards with some movie tickets to use at their Digital Gym Cinema in downtown. And for my final day of co-op, I helped out with setting up and breaking down the Ivie Awards ceremony that they had on Sunday, where a bunch of youth filmmakers were recognized for their work. Overall, returning to MACSD for my senior co-op was a great experience, and I wish I could do more for the company.
