Getting Started
Here's a list of things to do to get started.
If you have any problems or would just rather have someone walk you through it, Highline College now has Entry Advisors to help! You can find them in Building 6 (Upper Lobby), or contact them at entryadvising@highline.edu or 206-592-3620.
Resources
Do you need help figuring out online and virtual learning? Help with technology? Check out remote resources.
Need support with emergency cash, housing resources, food access, college financial navigation? Check out the Benefits Hub.
What about tuition?
If you are interested in the Early Achiever’s Grant, Kelly Betancourt is the point of contact. Complete the funding orientation through Workforce Education Services (WES). These are online (top right of the page). WES has other types of funding as well and I recommend them as your first stop.
Academic Advising
“Advisors” are people that you meet with to answer your questions and help you make a plan to achieve your degree.
I advise for the AAS (associate) and BAS (bachelor) degrees in Early Childhood Education. I love helping folks! Right now I'm over capacity for advisees and can only take a few more people on each year.
However, I want to help you find the best advisor you can have, based on your unique interests.
Are you just getting started in your program? You can request a faculty advisor. You’ll be matched to someone based on your interest in Education.
Are you interested in working at a public school? Kindergarten and up?
If you're interested in Elementary Education and do not have an AA/S degree, meet with Patricia McDonald.
If you already have your AA/S and want the BAS in Elementary Education contact John Pizarro.
Not sure? take a look at our programs.
Student and Community Hours
I hold hours on campus or in my Zoom Office. Be sure when you make an appointment that you look to see if we're in person or on Zoom!
On-campus I’m in building 29, room 241. Park in the south lot off S 240th St and be prepared to pay for parking. Please, if you’re showing any symptoms of being ill, please let me know and we'll meet me on Zoom.
In all cases (in person or on Zoom) I take drop-in visits in the order of your arrival, around any scheduled appointments.
Make an appointment with me. I usually book 5-14 days out depending on which week of the quarter that we're in. I'm on sabbatical until fall of 2024.
