Students are not permitted to bring any mobile phones on the trip. The rationale is that the temporary inconvenience of being without a phone is a necessary trade-off to ensure the highest standard of physical and emotional safety for every student throughout the trip.
Physical safety & accident prevention - phones are a distraction on the slopes and lifts. Banning them ensures students remain fully focused on their instructors, minimising the risk of accidents, injuries, and collisions.
Online & emotional wellbeing - removing personal devices mitigates the risk of cyberbullying and sharing inappropriate content. It allows students to focus on the experience and social bonding.
Loss, damage, and theft - electronics are easily lost or damaged in the resort environment, and can make students targets for theft.
We understand the importance of communication. Please be assured that a robust communication plan is in place for essential contact:
Emergency contact: You can contact the school office who will contact the trip leaders, or email berrillv@highlearn.uk
Student check-ins: If necessary, staff will facilitate supervised group check-in times using a staff mobile phone so students can make brief, essential calls home.
We appreciate your support of this policy, which is implemented solely to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants and to maximize the success of the trip.
