Anatomy and Physiology Ms. Nerlich
Room B128
Anatomy and Physiology Syllabus
Students are expected to:
1. Be respectful.
2. Be prompt to class. A student is considered tardy if they are not in their seat when the bell finishes
ringing.
3. Be responsible. Students are expected to turn in all assignments and projects on time. Late work is not
accepted. In the event a student has been absent (EXCUSED) from class the policy set forth by the
Board of Education will be followed. **Students who are present for any portion of a school day are
expected to turn in their work and to see me to make arrangements for any work missed. Students
who do not see me may receive a zero on projects and work missed, including tests.**
4. Do your own work. Cheating is not acceptable and all parties will receive a zero on the assignment in
question.
5. Remain on task during class. Students are expected to actively participate in all activities to achieve
success and to work cooperatively in a group to maximize the college-like experience for their future in
the medical field. Cell phones must be turned off. If we need them for an activity, I will let you know.
6. Remain in class. Students will not be excused from class per school policy.
5. Refrain from using technology. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not permitted in class
without permission.
**Cell phones will be confiscated (placed on front desk )as a warning. Students will then receive
demerits and have their phone confiscated for each additional infraction.**
6. Refrain from bringing food and beverages to class. A water bottle may be brought to class and
placed on the floor for intermittent use.
7. Students are permitted to chew gum, however, it must remain in one’s mouth and not be seen or
heard. Please do not chew gum during labs.
8. Grading is on a point scale and late work is not accepted. Please see Ms. Nerlich if you have special
circumstances. The Grading Policy set forth by the Board of Education is followed. Please note:
active participation in all labs, including dissection, is a requirement in Anatomy.
9. Exams will be exempt for seniors if the semester average is at or above a 70% and the student
must have passing grades both quarters. In addition, students cannot be absent and/or tardy to
class (26 minutes is a full class missed) a combined total of 12 times in a semester to be exempt
from the exam.
10. Treat substitutes with respect. Work is to be completed during the teacher’s absence and will be
graded upon return. Students who misbehave for a substitute receive double the consequence per Board
Policy.
A few reminders:
-Assignments may be given during class or as homework. This year we will be using Google classroom as our
communication tool.
-Late work is not accepted (unless there are valid reasons for not completing)
--Each chapter will take approximately two – four weeks to complete.
-A chapter test will be given after all material has been covered.
-Test review sheets may, or may not be given. The study guides given throughout the chapter are excellent tools
for review.
-Dissection takes place throughout the year and is required.
