Reminder for parents: Google Classroom has all the resources your student needs to complete assignments successfully. Tour the Resources tab for info!
I believe learning is not a one-shot deal. Sometimes, you might need an additional opportunity to show me what you know.
With that in mind, any student who would like to retake a quiz or a test, or revise an activity, simply needs to contact me. I will take a look at your work and figure out the best way forward to improve your grade.
That depends on the assessment and the way you decided to tackle it.
Generally, I will review the assessment with you during lunch, A.L.L. or a study hall. Next, I will determine whether you just need to work with me verbally or whether you need to complete a remediation activity independently before a revision will be allowed.
I don't want you to just keep guessing at answers. My goal always is to make sure you understand the material. I want you to succeed, not become frustrated because you don't understand the concepts or the reasoning behind a correct response.
Once we've completed whatever steps we decide on together, you will be able to revise your assignment. Whatever grade you receive is the one that counts, not the average of the two. The best grade is the grade. Period.
Then we go back to it again. I'll stick with you. But you have to decide you want it. I should never be working harder than you are to achieve success.
I know! It's crazy! You have the opportunity to earn bonus points by completing activities in the Enrichment section of our Google Classroom. And if you have family members who have had me in the past, you know this is absolutely NOT how I usually operate. But...different times call for different strategies!
We work on a 3-point Mastery scale for most assignments. But if you blow me away, if you completely exceed my expectations, you can earn at least one bonus point on each assignment. That is built-in extra credit! You don't need to ask about it, it will show up when you have gone above and beyond in your work.
Otherwise, there's no extra credit, so don't even ask. Do your work. Revise when necessary. Follow directions. You'll be just fine.
