STEM Challenge for Scottish Maths Week
This free resources has been developed by University of Glasgow Chemistry Outreach Group to support teaching of measuring and maths skills in an engaging science context. Keep your eyes on the school post for this free resource arriving in mid September.
The Beads and Seeds activity is designed for P5 – P7 pupils and involves measuring how much water can be absorbed by hydrogel beads over a period of time. Pupils can then plot their results, developing graph drawing skills, and compare results to other groups in the class. The experiment can then be repeated using salt water and pupils will find that the amount of water absorbs dramatically decreases.

Level One Training - These robots are a fantastic tool, allowing pupils to learn computational thinking, programming and mathematics through hands-on problem solving. This training session will cover the basics of how the SPRK+ robots work and how they can be used in a class setting along with providing some inspiring, inventive ideas of how to engage pupils with the second level computer science curriculum.
Level Two Training - This session is aimed at practitioners who are feeling confident with using the sphero robots in a class setting and who are looking to extend their skills.
