1. Daily Live Video Clips from Glasgow Science Centre, broadcast live via Social Media
2. All previous videos can be found on their channels and listed on their website if you are looking for something in particular to fit in with topics, etc.
SSERC TV
1. Scottish Schools Education Research Center (SSERC) are making weekly video clips of STEDM activities that can be completed at home with household resources
Topical Science Updates from Paul Tyler, Primary Science Teaching Trust Fellow
1. This is a downloadable doc of each week’s science news. Great for sharing with pupils for reading for information and STEM learning.

Edinburgh Science Festival Kids Lab
1. Lots of fantastic easy to follow PDFs with instruction for STEM activities that can be carried out at home.
2020 Great Bug Hunt
1. Our challenge is pretty simple - get your primary-age children to a safe outside space, equip them with magnifying glasses and notepads, and point them at the nearest hedges, flower beds, trees, long grass, logs, stones, rocks (well, you get the picture)... and let them explore and report back what they find. Please be sure, however, to follow government advice and do not leave your property. To do this, stay 2 metres away from people not in your household and do not put yourself or others at risk.

Science Fun at Home
1. The Primary Science Teaching Trust is working with Science Sparks to create activities for children to have some fun with science at home
  1. Each two page sheet has activities that are:

clear and simple, using household resources
accessible and manageable for all
fun for children and their families to do
linked to follow up activities

We will send out a new Science Fun at Home every Wednesday and we will also be posting them on all of our social media accounts. You can also sign up to receive these activities direct to your inbox by filling in the contact us form Munros@highland.gov.uk.. Please share these resources with other schools, parents, guardians and carers, and encourage them to pass them on to other families.

Engineering Our World - 8 engineering challenges and fact sheets which introduce famous scientists, engineers and artists.

Challenge Chasers - 8 science activities presented as challenges to solve for older primary children (ages 7-11 years).

1. This website has great ideas and resources for teaching science at primary level, demonstration videos, and a new remote teaching support section
Tigtag Primary
1. Highland Council Chrome books have Tigtag primary app installed.
2. This app has videos, questions, and activities for a wide range of science Es&0s, a great resource for independent research to teaching new concepts

STEM Topic Grids for Home Learning

We have been working with our partners at the Science Skills Academy to provide simple, easy to use grids, for you to use with your class.

Download and adapt these new STEM Topic Grids for Home Learning. Filled with 8 different interdisciplinary activities to develop STEM skills and creativity. Each grid can be adapted to suit your learners, pick one activity a day or one a week. Each folder has a Grid for 1st and 2nd Level CfE.

Garden Wildlife

Take learning outdoors and appreciate the wildlife in your own garden our outside of your windows.

Early Level - The Garden

Just for Early Level, fun investigations for young learners to complete in their own outdoor space. There is room for expanding and adapting this selection of activities depending on pupil choice and personal interests.

Treasures of the Earth

Learn all about rocks, fossils and what's under Earth's surface. Develop grouping and classifying skills.

Properties of Materials

Learn about the properties of materials; 1st level is about dissolving and sorting materials by their properties, 2nd level moves into filtering and separating mixtures with some great problem solving.

Plant Biology

Investigate how plants works by learning about their parts, and test what they need to grow and thrive. Some great practical challenges for Spring time.

Polar Regions

This is a great STEM topic for IDL investigations, with activities for floating, sea water, polar food chains, and live lessons with polar researchers.

Staying Healthy

Learn about body systems, senses, and how to keep your body healthy with a great range of fun and interesting investigations.

Space

This is fantastic collection of Space related resources and activities, with something for every learner.

Deserts

Learn about the Desert environment through reading, watching, and investigations.

Weather and Water

Learn about the water cycle and weather for 1st level and at 2nd Level learn about extreme weather.

Creativity Grids

These grids came from Nicola Orr, P6/7 teacher at Condorrat Primary. They have a great mix of creative, PE, and digital activities.
