ANIMAL CARE
ANIMAL CARE
SUCCESS is the sum of SMALL efforts REPEATED day in and out!!
Animal Key Notes
Hard Work
If you want to be successful with showing work hard. Do all the little things right.
Be Consistent
Animals learn a little bit at a time. Working 10 minutes a day is much better than two hours on Saturday.
Washing/Bathing/Brushing
Showing is part beauty contest. Skin and hair being healthy and trained correctly is very important. Wash your animal daily. You don't have to use soap daily, but washing is one of your best gentling tools. Brush everday.
Clean Pens/Bedding/Housing
Your animal's living conditions are important. They need clean, dry bedding. Take care of your animal in bad weather. You won't have great skin and hiar without this.
Feeding
Feed correctly. Ask for advice, we will help you. We need to see your animal out walking, setting up, or even get our hands on the animal to really tell. You need to feed consistently twice a day. NEVER MISS A MEAL! Some students don't feed until noon on Saturday after feeding at 7 AM during the school week, NOT good. Nothing else matters if you don't get this right.
Relationships/Videos/Communication
Video your student working with the animal. Send this to Mr. Kale, Mr. Sanders, or straight to the breeder. This lets the breeder see your animal, see that you are working with that animal, see the effort, and lets the breeder make suggestions. It is in your best interest to have a good relationship with the people you buy from. They will have more interest in your success.
High success does not come easily. You need to work hard, be consistent, and want to win. It will add up. You can do, but you need to remember these things!
