Mr. Roberts is building the Art Program from the ground up. We are excited to award her a grant toward a portable interactive board. This portable interactive board will impact art students from each of he Hico ISD schools.

"It's going to make it so that we aren't limited to just what I can show them" - Mrs. Roberts (Hico ISD Art Instructor)

ANNOUNCING OUR 2022 GRANT RECIPIENTS

Portable Sound System

This school year we are proud to announce that we were able to award Mr. Brister and the One Act play group a grant toward a Portable Sound System. The older sound system will be given to the Junior High, and because of it's portability, the new sound system will benefit the majority of Hico ISD.

"Education Foundation affords us the ability to upgrade our technology. We're able to get the best equipment through the Education Foundation"- Mr. Brister (One Act Play Instructor)

Frog Street Conference

"We love going to meet fellow teachers and learning new things and ways to teach children. We come back with new ideas and energized for the new school year" - Jodie Strickland (Hico ISD Teacher)

Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers were awarded a grant by the Hico Education Foundation providing them the opportunity to participate in an educational conference. At this conference teachers are able to collaborate ideas and new ways to teach things in the classroom. There are keynote speakers to give cutting edge strategies and latest research to enhance classroom experience and improve student performance.

Cafeteria Lighting

In 2021 the Hico Education Foundation awarded a grant to update the elementary stage lighting and a portable lighting system that could be used by both schools.  The permanent lighting system for the elementary stage has added an aesthetic value for presentations as well as performances. The portable system has been invaluable to all traveling productions. Giving students state of the art lighting for a professional looking production.

Hico Drone Class

Hico's drone class was awarded a grant in 2021 which made it possible for them to buy Mavic Air 2S drones. These folding drones are similar to what a student would use during commercial drone work. They have since used the drones for several projects, including making promotional videos for the annual Steak Cook Off and Gravel Locos bicycle race.

"The class has been really good so far. I am looking forward to growing it and continuing to provide this opportunity to our students" - Adam Watson (Drone Class Instructor)

Family Fun Day

Hico Education Foundation worked with Texas/New Mexico Power to provide Hico ISD with a $10,000 grant. Hico ISD had grand plans for a huge "Family Fun Day". Those plans were unfortunately canceled because of the pandemic.

Plans were scaled down and the Secondary School had a fun Kickball tournament and cookout while the Elementary School enjoyed a Family Fun Day.
