A little bit about me...

This will be my 23rd year in education. This will be my 6th year as an AIG Specialist for HIckory Public Schools. I have worked primarily with Grandview and Northview, but I also provide support to the high schools when needed. Prior to this position, I have been a part of  Hickory Public Schools as an 8th grade Math and Math 1 teacher  as well as an 8th grade Science teacher. I also taught in Iredell-Statesville Schools as a 6th grade and 8th grade math teacher. 

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Carolina University in 2000 with a concentration in Mathematics and Science. I completed my graduate certificate in Academically and Intellectually Gifted at UNC-Charlotte in 2005. I earned my Masters degree from Appalachian State University for Curriculum Specialist in 2010. 

I am very excited for the upcoming school year! In my role, I am available to provide support for students, parents, and teachers.  I will be pulling small groups to provide extension activities that support the teacher's lessons. I will also be creating assignments, activities, and projects that teachers can use in the classroom to extend the thinking of our gifted and high achieving students.
