Regattas

This will be our first trip of the season to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota which is one of the premier rowing venues in the country. A detailed logistics email will be sent as we get closer to race day.

Rower Information

• Arrival Time: 6:00 AM (first race begins around 7:00 AM)

• Drop-Off Location: Bob Buckhorn River Center – 402 W Laurel St, Tampa, FL 33607

• Pick-Up Time: Approximately 12:30 PM, after the final race and equipment clean-up

• Pick-Up Location: South Lot Public Parking – 1000 North Blvd Tampa, FL  33607 (Please do not pick-up your rower in the Bob Buckhorn River Center North Lot)

Spectator Information

Please note: the boathouse will be very busy, and the docks are used only for launching and recovery. You will not be able to view races from the boathouse.  The races will start parallel to the lighthouse on the tip of Harbour Island.

The best viewing locations are:

• Channel Drive on Davis Island (Best Viewing Spot)

  • GPS: 1 Barbados Ave, Tampa, FL 33606 (will take you to the start of Channel Drive)

  • Look for our group on Channel Dr between Chesapeake Ave and Biscayne Ave (the start of the course).

  • Our Hospitality Chair will have coffee, light snacks, and cowbells. Bring a chair and any morning treats you’d like to share!

• Jackson’s Bistro on Harbour Island

  • 601 S Harbour Island Blvd Ste 100, Tampa, FL 33602

  • The restaurant opens at 10 AM, but you can access the docks beforehand to see the finish line.

• Tampa Convention Center

  • 333 S Franklin St, Tampa, FL 33602

  • Offers a head-on view of the finish line with boats coming toward you.

Halloween Regatta Details:

• Location: Harney Park at the Bypass Canal

• Address: Tampa Bypass Canal - Harney Park Boat Ramp | Hillsborough County, FL

• Arrival Time: 6:30 AM, with the first race starting around 8:19 AM.

• Parking: All spectators must park at the SWFMD Office Parking Lot located at 7601 US-301, Tampa, FL 33637. A $5 donation to the Boy Scouts of America may be requested. Carpooling is highly encouraged!

• Waiver Required: All rowers must have a TARA/PHRA waiver completed.

Rower Information

• Arrival Time: 7:00 AM for coxswains and bow seats, 8:00 AM for all other rowers

  • Coaches & Coxswains Meeting ~7:30 AM

  • First regatta race ~9:00 AM

  • First HHSRC launch ~9:20 AM

  • First HHSRC race ~10:00 AM

• Drop-Off Location: 321 E. Dampier St., Inverness, FL 34450
  (Approx. 70 miles / 90 minutes from HHS)

• Meet Up Location: HHSRC Hospitality Trailer/Team Tent (look for HHSRC flags)

• Pick-Up Time/Location: ~5:00 PM, after final race & equipment clean-up at 321 E. Dampier St.

Spectator Information

• Parking: Free in city lots and on-street. Closest parking is off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. near the rower drop-off area after E. Dampier St.
