Welcome to the KS4 and KS5 Options Website

This website has been created to provide you and your child with the relevant information about the choices available to students in Year 9 for their GCSE options and and in Year 11 for their Post 16 Options.

The usual ways in which students will go through the process of choosing suitable options will be different this year. However, we are committed to ensuring that the process is rigorous and as helpful as can possibly be to assist students in making individual choices, that are right for them. We aim to offer guidance that can help parents to sufficiently support their child with these decisions.

The curriculum at Hawarden High School reflects the demands of the National Curriculum and is designed to provide all students with a broad, balanced and relevant education. We strive to make the curriculum meet the needs of all of our students in order for them to foster of a love of learning; showing initiative an resilience and are enthused to become lifelong learners. Our aim is to provide an education that enables our students to develop the qualities and skills that they need to be successful at school and beyond.

In order to ensure that, in making these decisions, you child takes into account their ability, interests and career aspirations, they will be receiving guidance from a range of staff including their Group Tutors, subject teachers and leaders and Careers staff.

The options choice system offers a wide range of choices, drawn from the Communications, Creative and Performing Arts, Humanities, Languages and Technical and Vocational Faculties,
