ART inspired by KADISHMAN
Menashe Kadishman (1932-2015) was an Israeli sculptor and painter. He was born in Tel Aviv. Kadishman’s artwork is presented around the world and his paintings can be found in many Israeli galleries. He is famous for his metallic sculptures and colorful sheep paintings. In his youth, Kadishman worked as a shepherd in a Kibbutz and this influenced his artistic work and career. He painted over 1,000 portraits of sheep, each one different from the next.
Using modeling clay, students created their own sheep portraits

א ה ב ה
We are inspired by Robert Indiana's AHAVA (love) sculpture. The Hebrew version of the sculpture is located at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. It consists of the letters א-Alef and ה-Hey over the letters ב-Vet and ה-Hey.
Artworks inspired by the artist Marc Chagall are completed!
After reading a story about Chagall's life and observing his paintings, students were inspired to create their own dream-like paintings. With a black oil pastel, they drew a house. Then, they turned the page 90 degrees and drew themselves with their pet. Next, they turned the page again and drew a tree or a flower. Last, they added a sun, colored their creation with oil pastels and finished it with watercolors. Students really enjoyed the process and the dream-like paintings of Chagall!

Mixed Media on Canvas
Students created the first letter of their Hebrew name with masking tape on canvas. They added more tape around, dividing the canvas into sections. Then, they painted the canvas with acrylic paint. When the paint dried, they pulled the masking tape off the canvas and added small drawings and colors with sharpies and watercolors. Last, they decoupaged an image of themself on the canvas and wrote their Hebrew name on it. They had a blast! What a fun way to end a day.
