The Learning Support department will work closely with your child's primary school to establish the provisions which are currently in place for them and work out the adaptations which might be needed at Hitchin Girls' School to support them. We often arrange additional transition visits for students if necessary, so please contact the team if you feel your child will need this. Some of the provisions we have in place for students include the following:
Meet and greet to ease transitions into school
Take a break club to help those who might struggle to make friends
Autism social skills groups
Lexia literacy provision
A range of pastoral support options including peer mentoring, art therapy, counselling, health and well-being coaching
Pupil passports to advise staff of classroom adaptations
If there is information or reports you would like to share with the team prior to them starting at Hitchin Girls' School, please send these to the transition email address and we will be able to put the information into pupil passports before they begin with us in September.
