Aspiration - Perseverance - Kindness - Respect - Positivity

Community - Family - Relationships

Welcome to Hitchin Girls' School

Welcome to our HGS Transition google site where, over the coming weeks, we will share with you everything you and your child will need to know ahead of joining us on New Intake Day on Thursday 13th July.

We are so excited that you have chosen our school for the next chapter of your education and cannot wait to get to know you and welcome you to your new school 'home'.

Over the summer term you will be taking part in and enjoying every opportunity at your primary school and will very much be their pupil; however we want to you know that from the moment you received your place and welcome letter from us we very much think if you as already being part of our HGS family.

Our HGS family is driven by our values of Aspiration - Perseverence - Kindness - Respect - Positivity and based upon the solid and pivotal foundation of Community - Family and Relationships.

We are a happy school where students want to learn and thrive and enjoy doing so. Where teachers and staff look forward to coming to work and love their jobs. We smile and laugh a lot, share in each other's successes and joy and are there for each other when confronted by challenges or sadness.

Over the coming pages we will start to introduce you to life at your new school, some of the key staff who make up the Transition Team and begin to show you around the buildings and facilities that you will soon call home.

We cannot wait to meet you in your primary schools on our visits over the next few weeks and to then welcome you officially to you new school on New Intake Day.

Mrs Cooper - Assistant Head, Mrs Hone Associate Assistant Head, Mrs Rowe - Head of Year 7 and the Transition Team.

Welcome from Mr Crowther - Headteacher

Welcome to all of our new students and their families.  I am James Crowther, headteacher of Hitchin Girls' School, and it is my great pleasure to welcome you all as new members of our school community.  I look forward to meeting you in person at the New Intake day on Thursday July 13, when you will get to meet some of our staff, explore the buildings and also meet all of your new classmates.   In the meantime, I hope this website gives you a real flavour of life at Hitchin Girls' School.  I believe it is a truly special place; a place where our values of Apiration, Perseverance, Kindness, Respect and Positivity resonate through every aspect of school life.

Starting secondary school is an exciting time and I appreciate that it can also be somewhat daunting, but don't worry you'll soon settle and feel very much a part of our wonderful community.
