Hello Brand New 5th Graders!
Congratulations! You made it to 5th grade! I know you’ve worked hard to get to this point and I can’t wait to learn with you next year! 5th grade is a lot of fun, but it also takes a lot of effort, and requires a lot of responsibility. So let’s get started!
5th grade ELA will begin with a short author study of one of the most famous authors of all time: Roald Dahl! Your job over the summer is to read Matilda written by Mr. Dahl, and be prepared to discuss it and complete activities about it in the beginning of the school year.
You are also required to complete the Matilda packet that was sent home. Please be prepared to turn this packet in on the first day of school. Tip: You will need to work on your packet at the same time as reading your book, to complete the packet well.
