Music is an essential part of life. The opportunity to engage in musical experiences is crucial for the development of the whole person and is known to develop memory, co-ordination, self-esteem, confidence, self-discipline, co-operation and creativity. These abilities are directly transferrable to other areas of the curriculum and beyond the classroom, allowing children to flourish and be successful learners for life.
Music is taught as a discreet subject but also woven through other curriculum areas and times of the day with the skills and knowledge learnt being embedded across all areas of the curriculum.
