Opinion piece by Thomas Friedman, in which he references the pre-feasibility study on the potential for regional water-energy exchanges in the Middle East undertaken for the regional environmental NGO EcoPeace Middle East.
The project was presented by EcoPeace at the U.N. Security Council in 2020 and eventually served as the basis for "Project Prosperity," an agreement signed in 2021 by the governments of Israel and Jordan, facilitated by the UAE and US, according to which Israel would supply Jordan with desalinated water and Jordan would supply Israel with solar energy.
