Concert Choir

Class Description

Concert Choir is a course for any level student of music who desires to sing and contribute as part of a music team with a high level of excellence in achievement through singing, reading music, and performing. Many different styles and genres of music will be presented as to give the student a wide range of music and musical knowledge. Although there will be some contemporary music in style (i.e. pop music), most music will be chosen with the singers in mind to develop their ability and understanding of choral singing. Students will be expected to sing and participate in the large ensemble but will also be required to sing in small groups and alone during the course of the class. For some music, students will be taught choreography that must be applied while singing. Students will have to demonstrate willingness to participate in all aspects of the class for consideration of full credit. Opportunities for solos may be available for public performance, but not all students will be able to solo at these events based mostly on performance time and individual performance readiness. This will be done in an audition format. Classes are designed to educate the student in music and the model is primarily that of a rehearsal environment. There is no audition necessary for this class.
