A forgotten love note became a mural.
A small detail became something unforgettable.
Someone chose to create instead of covering up.
And isn't that what Changemakers are all about?
Tucked away in a backstreet in Kaunas, an artist found a secret love note painted on a wall by a couple. They wrote “Deima + Arūnas.” Instead of simply painting over it, he decided to incorporate it into his artwork. This is how the pink elephant mural came to be—born to witness and bring attention, rather than forget. The artist combined their names and named the elephant “Deimūras." According to the artist, Deimūras symbolizes grand, pure, and "pink" feelings.
Elephants mean many things to many people, but this one stands for bringing about beauty and creation from something forgotten or ignored. That's how he was born.
Changemakers do the same.
Changemakers are students who see problems in their communities and choose to act. They DO rather than ignore.
Our Deimūras is the elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. Painted bright pink, he is impossible to ignore.
