Locust Grove High School
Work-Based Learning
Work-Based Learning is a program within the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) department that provides students with the opportunity to learn a variety of skills by exanding the classroom into the community and narrowing the gap between theory and practice through rigorous academic preparation with hands-on career development experiences.
Through WBL experiences, students are afforded the opportunity to connect classroom instruction to the world of work and future career opportunities.
At Locust Grove High School our mission is "with a caring environment of building relationships through, equality, trust and collaboration, every student will graduate ready for college, career, and life".
We believe CTAE programs and WBL experiences are a cornerstone for preparing students to be college and career ready! The mission of the Work-Based Learning program is to assist in providing a highly trained, technologically savvy and career oriented young work force. This is accomplished by developing partnerships between business, industry, students, parents, school systems, coordinators, and post-secondary institutions which will leard the participating student into meaningful careers.
Your WBL Instructor
My name is Meredith Beck, I am the Work-Based Learning/Career Center Instructor. I am a graduate of the University of Georgia and have earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences. I have also earned my M. Ed. in Elementary Education and Ed. S. in Curriculum and Instruction. I have had the pleasure of teaching CTAE in Henry County for the last 10+ years. I believe that through CTAE, students gain valuable, real-world knowledge and skills that will help them excel after high school. Students are exposed to various career opportunities and technical skills. Through WBL, students will expand and develop their tacticle skills through a work force job, internship or youth apprenticeship placement.
