Computer Science Principles

COURSE DESCRIPTION

How can computing change the world? What is computer science? This engaging and intellectually rich course emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and the societal relevance of computer science.

Students will explore fundamental computer science principles through hands-on activities, project-based learning, and computational thinking practices, including:

• Connecting Computing

• Developing Computational Artifacts

• Abstracting

• Analyzing Problems and Artifacts

• Communicating and Collaborating

This course is designed to appeal to a broad audience, integrating employability skills, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), professional communication, problem-solving, ethical considerations, and presentation techniques to prepare students for college and career readiness.

Pathway: Second course in Programming, Game Design, Internet of Things, Web Development, Cloud Computing, and Computer Science pathways. 

 Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Software Technology.
