What is Work-Based Learning?
The program is currently full for the 2025-2026 SY
The mission of the Work-Based Learning Program is to foster a highly trained, technologically adept, and career-oriented young workforce. This is achieved by forming partnerships among businesses, industries, students, parents, school systems, coordinators, and post-secondary institutions, ultimately guiding participating students toward meaningful careers.
Goals
- To establish a robust support system and partnerships between local employers, secondary schools, technical schools, colleges, and certified training programs.
- To facilitate the alignment of programs of study between high schools and post-secondary institutions.
- To develop an industry-driven system where employers and their representatives help define occupational skills standards, collaborate on curriculum development, offer work experience, and provide mentors for students, as well as certify skill mastery leading to the issuance of skill certificates.
- To encourage students to learn about a wide range of facets within a broad industry cluster, rather than concentrating solely on a narrow set of occupational skills.
