Get ready for an exciting musical experience! MMS students have the opportunity to participate in the Henry County Honor Band event on April 18th and 19th at the Henry County Fairview Performing Arts Center. Our talented 6th graders will join other students from across the county to form a dedicated 6th grade honor band, while our equally talented 7th and 8th graders will combine to create a dynamic 7th/8th grade honor band. These exceptional musicians will rehearse with renowned clinicians and then showcase their hard work in a culminating concert on Saturday, April 19th at 11:30 am.Β

6th Grade Honor Band
Spotlight on 6th Grade Excellence: Henry County Honor Band Opportunity!
Our 6th-grade band students have an incredible chance to shine at the Henry County 6th Grade Honor Band! Under the guidance of guest clinician Audrey Murphy Kunka, Band Director at East Cobb Middle School, students will hone their skills and collaborate with peers from across the county. This intensive workshop culminates in a public performance, showcasing the students' dedication and musical growth.
What to Expect:
Selected students will participate in rehearsals alongside other top 6th-grade musicians, learning new techniques and expanding their musical horizons. The honor band experience fosters teamwork, discipline, and a deeper appreciation for music.
Key Details for Participants:
The $15 participation fee covers the event and a commemorative t-shirt. Rehearsals will be held on Friday, April 18th (9 am - 4 pm) and Saturday, April 19th (9 am - 11 am), followed by the concert at 11:30 am on Saturday. Students should plan accordingly for meals and attire during rehearsals and the performance.

7th & 8th Grade Honor Band
7th & 8th Grade Musical Showcase: Henry County Honor Band!
Prepare for an exceptional musical journey with the Henry County 7th/8th Grade Honor Band! This prestigious event provides a platform for our talented 7th and 8th graders to collaborate with their peers and refine their musical abilities. Under the direction of guest clinician Dr. Myra Rhoden, Retired Band Director, Fayette County High School, students will participate in intensive rehearsals and a culminating concert.
A Unique Opportunity:
Participating students will have the chance to expand their musical knowledge, improve their playing skills, and perform alongside other dedicated young musicians. The honor band fosters a sense of community and celebrates the dedication and talent of our students.
Essential Information for Participants:
The participation fee is $15 per student, which includes an event t-shirt. Payment details will be provided upon acceptance, and the deadline for payment is March 29th. Rehearsals are scheduled for Friday, April 18th (9 am - 4 pm) and Saturday, April 19th (9 am - 11 am), with the final concert taking place at 11:30 am on Saturday. Students will need to bring lunch on Friday and adhere to specific attire guidelines for rehearsals and the performance.
