Attendance will be taken each period on live instruction days. All teachers must take attendance within the first 15 minutes of class.
If a student is more than 15 minutes late to class, but remains in class for the entire class period, the student will be marked tardy in IC.
If the student arrives to class on time, but leaves within the last 15 minutes of class, the student will be marked tardy in IC.
If the student arrives on time or after the first 15 minutes of class and leaves anytime prior to the last 15 minutes of class, the student will be marked absent in IC.
Students who do not attend class at all will be marked absent in IC.
Students who are not actively participating and engaged in class may be removed from the virtual classroom and will be counted absent. Active participation is defined as, but not limited to, asking and answering questions, commenting in the chat, having an active screen on Go Guardian, engaging in collaborative online documents. It is required that you use your Henry County Chromebook in order to be visible on Go Guardian during Live Meets.

The Science Department has a three day grace period for accepting late work- this means that no late penalties are assessed until three days AFTER the due date for an item. This allows for flexibility for the student in work completion, but also keeps us on the required pacing of the course. It is always best to turn in the work as it is assigned, but we understand that life happens. The three day grace period allows you some extra time when things happen. It should not be a normal occurrence that you are ALWAYS exercising late completion of work. Exceptions- you are absent (we will follow the HCS handbook for absences) or you have extended time accommodations (the 3 day grace period will be applied AFTER extended time accommodations have been granted)
