When I received this assignment from my music teacher Ms. Heidi Long, I felt this would be a way for me to use my talent. So I created a song that would show others that we can all help each other by working together to get through this Coronavirus Pandemic.

I played a trombone duet with a member of the United States Air Force band. I believe this shows that we can make the best out of a bad situation and continue to have great opportunities.

C. Biffle, Locust Grove High

Jacob Evarts, a junior at Locust Grove High School, has been commissioned by Dr. Richard Bell to write a composition for a full orchestra. This piece will be in dedication to Jacob’s grandfather, Richard Evarts, who was an early mentor to Dr. Bell and other young musicians in the Atlanta area. The commissioned work will be premiered next January at the 2021 GMEA conference in Athens, GA. Congratulations, Jacob!
