Social Distancing

N. Joseph, McDonough Middle (Click The Title To Listen)

Uptopian- By: Z. Gibbs, Woodland High

Living in a hectic world (yeah)

Things are outta control

Seems like things are getting

Crazy out here

And these people they don’t

Have no hope

But what is the light shined

And it was bright in your eyes

And what if it showed the way

The way that things would be okay

We would be living in a world of peace

We would have a great humanity

We would be living with no disease (yeah)

We would

We would be living free

And that’s called hope

That’s called joy

Yeah it’s called love

Free from the destroyed

We would be living in a world of peace

We would have a great humanity

We would be living with no disease (yeah)

We would be living free

Free Free

We would be living free

Free Free

Not Trapped-By: P. Peterson, Ola Elementary

Inside and away,

I sit and pray,

That once again with friends I shall play-

“Trapped”, they all shout,

You may feel that, no doubt

To think that- you’re apt.

Yet you are NOT trapped!

Together we can be

You just have to see

That doesn’t have to be physically.

We have this and that

We can use to chat.

Come hither my friends

To see the possibility of a platform with no ends

Come hither- we shall talk.

In pixels we shall walk

Together we shall be

You just have to see

It won’t be physically.

In The Candle Light-By: M. Peterson, Ola Elementary

We the children know

we don’t have school,

In the building of course.

Now we work in the candlelight.

We work on computers day by day

working on and on.

And before

you know it we are back at school!

Yet before that, we work

in the candle light.

Causing students wanting to stay

in bed all night and day.

It is okay!

Don’t worry about a fright.

Some say they like it working

in the candle light.

So don’t doubt yourself

there is no reason to fright

working in the candle light.

An Acrostic Poem, about life in Quarantine - By: C. Miller, Eagles Landing High

Q- Quite boring, sitting in the house and not being able to go nowhere or see your friends

U- Useless time being wasted when I could be doing something fun

R- Really hope this is over before the summer

A- Anecdote needs to be found and in use

N- No more people should die

T- To hope this will all go away soon

I- In the meantime, we just have to stay home so things will get better

N- Nobody deserves this.

E- Everybody do what is said and this pandemic will go away soon.

I Have Hope - By: K. Derrico, Eagles Landing High

I have hope

I have faith

But how are other people going to have it

If you don't tell them their safe

It's hard holding on

It's hard to trust

You don't know who has covid-19

So don't trust

Stay home

Stay safe

Because one day

We’ll all come together once again

And we will be safe

Have hope

Have faith

Because without it you'll be in a evil place

God is with us and will always be

But covid-19 will try to sting us like a bee

Social distancing is important for our health

If you don't follow the rules

You'll end up seeing death

It's hard to say that covid-19

Won't be here for long

But you have to have hope and faith and we all will be safe.

Persistence - By: A. Jett, McDonough Middle

Persistence

Persistence in the human race. Us as people have been through so many things. Whether it be personal hardship or a worldwide, international pandemic or epidemic. We have overcome a lot. We’ve stood our ground and persevered. We won’t and can’t stop now.

I hope that we can band together and be strong. I hope that we can come out of this stronger than before. That when this is over, those who had lost their battle can look down and be proud of humanity. Be proud that we didn’t give up.

No matter what anyone says, we will survive this. We have to. We must prove to ourselves, each other, and those we’ve lost that we have not lost hope. That we didn’t lose our faith that everything will be okay.

So, if you ask me what the definitions of persistence, perseverance, strength, bravery, faith, and hope are, I would say the human race.
