Dear Hampton Middle School Community,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to another exciting year of athletics at Hampton Middle School! As the Athletic Director, I am honored to serve our student-athletes, families, and dedicated supporters who make our program so special. At HMS, we believe athletics play a vital role in the development of our students—fostering teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and perseverance both on and off the field. Whether on the court, the track, or the playing field, our student-athletes strive to represent our school with pride and integrity.

We are committed to providing a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment where all students can grow, lead, and succeed. Our coaches are passionate educators who not only teach the game but help shape confident, respectful, and resilient young people. We encourage all families and community members to come out and support our teams. Your energy and involvement fuel our athletes and strengthen the spirit of the Hampton Hornets. FALL ATHLETICS PREVIEW

The leaves are turning, and a new season of high-energy community sports is officially here! This fall, our athletes are hitting the field with deep rosters, veteran leadership, and major championship ambitions. Here is everything you need to know about the sports offered and what to expect on the sidelines.

 Football: Power and Experience

Expect a highly physical, disciplined team this year. The roster boasts a strong core of returning veterans who know what it takes to win under pressure.

• Key Players: Keep your eyes on returning standouts Travis McKay, Carmello Cash, and James Castillo, alongside a talented host of varsity starters.

• The Outlook: With major talent returning in key positions, the community can expect an explosive offense and a battle-tested defense ready to dominate the league.

Flag Football: Speed and Strategy

Flag football is back and faster than ever, combining tactical precision with elite athleticism.

• Key Leader: The team is anchored by captain June Kratz, whose leadership and field vision will drive the team's fast-paced strategy.

• The Outlook: Expect a high-scoring, electrifying season. This group excels at quick transitions and tight defensive coverage, making every game a must-watch.

Softball: Discipline and Depth

Our softball program is gearing up for a competitive run, relying on a great mix of veteran composure and rising talent.

• Key Elements: A solid core of returning starters brings chemistry, strong batting lineups, and reliable infield defense.

• The Outlook: The community can expect fundamentally sound, thrilling games. This team specializes in late-inning rallies and high-intensity dugouts.

SPOTLIGHT ON COACEHS AND TEAMS

Welcome to the Hornet Family Coach Reise McDaniel! We are thrilled to announce that a familiar face is returning home to join our football coaching staff. Please join us in giving a warm welcome back to a proud Henry County alumnus and former standout Luella High School football and baseball athlete. It is always a special day when our own graduates return to invest in the next generation of student-athletes. 

NEW STAFF INTRODUCTIONS

We are thrilled to introduce the newest additions to our coaching staff! Join us in giving a big Hornet welcome to:

• Reise McDaniel – Assistant Football Coach

• Gabrielle Jones – Assistant Flag Football Coach

Both coaches bring an incredible passion for the game and a deep commitment to student-athlete development. We are confident they will help push our programs to new heights.

ATHLETES TO WATCH

Jesiah Porter turned an unexpected crisis into a career-defining moment. When the starting quarterback went down, Porter stepped into the huddle without hesitation. Under immense pressure, his unwavering leadership and pride carried the team through a grueling battle, culminating in a spectacular triple-overtime victory where he personally scored two touchdowns.

ACADEMIC AND LEADERSHIP SUPPORT

True leadership isn't about seeking the spotlight; it is about guiding others with humility, dedication, and grace. This month, we proudly recognize three extraordinary student-athletes who embody these values daily. June Kratz, Presley Chen, and Kyrie Weatherby dominate in their respective sports, maintain stellar academic records, and uplift their campus communities without ever asking for recognition. They simply love the game and strive for excellence in everything they do.
