Parents/Guardians of Eighth-Grade Students:
High school program applications will be opening up soon for interested 8th grade students. This message contains information about applications for Specialty Centers, ACE Centers, Maggie Walker Governor’s School, and CodeRVA. This general information presentation will be shared with 8th grade students in the coming weeks - High School Programs Overview 2026. Ms. Dougherty and Mrs. Mizelle will be providing more information for students in the coming weeks through Advisory lessons, video tutorials and help sessions.
Application Help Google Form - students can use this form to sign up for help with an application - dates for Advisory help sessions are posted
Friday, October 23rd - Specialists will visit QMS to offer application support to students from 8:30-10:30 AM, in the library.
Specialty Center Application Process -
The Specialty Center application opens up September 28th and closes November 13th. All 8th grade students will participate in a specialty center general information session during Advisory on either September 2nd or September 3rd. Applications will be done through SchoolMint this year.

ACE Center Application Process -
Open House Date: November 5th @ Hermitage ACE Center, at 6:30 PM
The ACE Center application opens up September 28th and will close on November 13th. Applications will be done through SchoolMint this year.

Maggie Walker Governor’s School Application Process -
The Maggie Walker Governor’s School application opens up on October 1st (to qualified applicants) and closes on December 1st.

CodeRVA Application Process -
The CodeRVA application opens through SchoolMint beginning January 4th and will close on February 19th.
CodeRVA is a Regional High School Program for students interested in pursuing computer science. An open house is scheduled for October 13th and December 8th from 6:00-8:00 PM at CodeRVA Regional HS (or through Zoom). Please refer to this website for more information: https://coderva.org/.
