Hi families! Wow! What a great first week we have had back at school! I've loved all of the positive energy and excitement we've had in class! These 5th graders have already received from high praise for their behavior during our Code of Conduct assembly and for how they are being good role models for our younger students. Grown ups, you should be proud of your child!

We will continue next week to nail down our classroom procedures and begin to dive deeper into our 5th grade learning content. Students can apply for classroom jobs (due 8/26) and will begin earning Buzzy Bucks next week for positive behavior. I will also begin sending home a communication calendar each day starting next week. This will be a way for you and I to communicate about how things are going in class. You'll receive more information about this on Monday.

Dear 5th grade families, 

It was so wonderful to meet you yesterday and I am so excited to be working with your children this year! Below are a few reminders as we get ready for Monday.

1. Transportation: If you haven't already, please fill out the Student Dismissal Form ASAP! It is important for us to have this information on Monday. In your blue transportation folder you picked up at Open House yesterday, you will find a transportation note. Short Pump is strongly suggesting the use of this transportation note when your child has a CHANGE in his/her daily transportation. We only need it when there is a CHANGE. You can also find a copy on the SPES Family Dashboard for your convenience.

2. ID Badge: Your child will receive their ID Badge in class on Monday. Please have your child wear this badge to school EVERY day. (It's in the Code of Conduct this year!)

3. Devices: Please make sure to complete the Device Acknowledgement Form on ParentPortal before Monday so that your child will be able to use their Chromebook on the first day of school! 

4. Resource Schedule: Check out our Schedule! PE is on Tuesdays this year. While it's a good idea to wear comfortable shoes every day for recess, please ensure your child is wearing athletic shoes on Tuesdays so they can participate fully in PE.

5. Snack: We will have a time for snack in the afternoons since our lunch is early this year. (Lunch is at 11:15 everyday). Feel free to send in a healthy snack with your child each day.
